The hand skeleton contains carpal bones (wrist), metacarpal bones (palm) and phalanx (phalanges). Wrist contains eight short bones, called carpal bones, which are closely associated ligaments. Gliding movements occurring between carpal bones, causing flexibility wrist. Carpal bones (ossa carpi) consists two transverse series of eight very different shapes of bones.

Metacarpal bones (ossa metacarpalia) have a uniform structure and a similar shape. Contains five long bones that have shaped mid-section of skeletal hand.
